Warli is an ancient kind of Indian folk art that originated in the Maharashtra region of Warli. The materials used in Warli painting, which is traditionally painted on the red ochre walls of huts, speak directly to the circumstances of village life and the local environment — cow dung from the animals that provide sustenance, rice paste from the surrounding paddies, and charcoal from the life-giving fires.
