Warli painting is a Maharashtra tribal folk art characterised by its simplicity of style and depiction of the Warli Adivasi community's daily existence. The paintings, which are thought to be over a thousand years old, were historically created only by women from the Warli tribe, who live in the northern Sahyadri Range on the outskirts of Mumbai.
